We have all been there. You have had one drink too many the night before, you didn’t plan it, but now you not only feel like you have been hit by a truck, but you don’t look your best either. Here are some tips to help you look better after you had a wild night out. Because we all know if you look good, you feel a bit better.
The thing that gives your state away to others is the dull skin. Alcohol tends to dehydrate the body; the aim is to keep things simple and add moisture back into the skin.
If you slept in and now have barely any time to get ready start by washing your face with an exfoliating scrub. Wash off your makeup from the night before if you didn’t already. Start with a clean slate.
I recommend The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Exfoliator or the Himalaya Herbals Gentle Exfoliating Apricot Scrub.
Put some moisture back into your skin with a tinted moisturiser. The trick is to massage it into your skin and use your fingertips to push an extra layer of moisture into the dryer areas. This will help to hydrate your skin and because the product is tinted it will add some colour to your skin to make it look more awake and healthier.
It is a bit of a splurge, but the MAC Lightful C Coral Grass Tinted Cream is great for dry skin. Garnier’s Skin Naturals BB Cream has always been a favourite of mine.
Highlighter is going to make a huge difference to your look. Add dimension by applying a bit of highlighter to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, your temples and finally just a little bit on your cupid’s bow. This will give you a natural glow and make you look more awake.
Look into Catrice Glowdoscope Highlighter Palette or even Rimmel’s Photo-Ready Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer.
It is time to add the finishing touches. Try curling your lashes and applying some mascara afterwards. This will make your eyes look bigger and more awake. If you want, you can add some cheek and lip tint to your face to make your face look rosier and as if you have a natural blush.
If all else fails, then add a bright lip colour. It will draw all the attention away from the rest of your face and make you look like you put a lot of effort into your makeup. No one will know how many cosmopolitans you had the night before.

Some extra tips…
If you can try to take of your makeup the night before and apply a face cream before bed.
Apply a face mask to add moisture to your face if you have time the next morning.
Try to eat a healthy breakfast even if you feel like you cannot stomach it. Some eggs and a smoothie will be perfect.
Drink a lot of water throughout the day! Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate! It will not only make your skin look better, but it will help with the headache.
- Try to spend some time outside, the vitamin D will be good for you.
- A small tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip tint will not take up a lot of space in your handbag, so always try to carry it with you. You never know when it might come in handy.
